In the past two weeks, around 1,500 challans have been issued to motorists driving vehicles on cycle tracks.
Acting tough against the violators, the traffic police have also started initiating action against the violators under Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act. Under this Act, the driver is arrested and released on bail.

In a bid to avoid traffic snarls, motorists are often seen driving on cycle tracks. The violation is more rampant among two-wheeler riders.
Despite traffic-free cycle tracks, cyclists prefer to pedal on main roads in various parts of the city, risking their lives. In 2017, 13 cyclists lost their lives in road accidents, while 27 suffered injuries.
