2,971 appear for PU CET (PG) 1st phase

As many as 2,971 candidates appeared for the first phase of the PU-CET (PG) entrance test-2019 for admission to 25 postgraduate courses at Panjab University here today.
Last year, 3,115 candidates appeared for the exam. In 2018, 720 students applied for MA (English) exam, of which 626 appeared and while this year, 775 students applied for the said course, of which 695 appeared. In MTech (micro-electronics), 14 students had applied, of which nine had appeared last year. This year, 10 candidates had applied for MTech (material science & technology), of which only eight had appeared.
A total of seven centres were created, four on the Panjab University campus and one each at Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana and Muktsar. Flying squad and observers were sent to every centre for routine checking and smooth conduct of the test.
Registrar Prof Karamjit Singh, DUI Prof Shankarji Jha and Prof. CoE Parvinder Singh also visited the examination centres. The test was conducted satisfactorily and no untoward incident was reported from any of the examination centres.

- Centre no. 1,2,3,4,5 — Gate No. 1
- Centre no. 6 & 7 — Gate No. 3
- Centre no. 8 & 9 — Gate No. 2
- Centre no. 10 & 11 (UIET - Opp. Gate No. 3) South Campus, Sector 25
