2 arrested for throwing stones at PCR vehicle

Two youths have been arrested for pelting stones on a PCR vehicle at Mauli Jagran here on Thursday night.

Police officials said a PCR vehicle was patrolling in Mauli Jagran when around 11:10 pm, Constable Ajay Singh and a Home Guards volunteer questioned some youths standing in a park.

The police said the youths started abusing the PCR team members and hurled stones at the PCR vehicle. The vehicle was damaged in the incident with one of its windowpanes broken. The accused then escaped from the spot.

An additional police team was rushed to the spot and an investigation was initiated.

Meanwhile, a case on the complaint of Constable Ajay was registered at the Mauli Jagran police station.

The police said today, the two suspects, identified as Akash (22), alias Sachin, and Rohit (26), both residents of Mauli Jagran, were arrested in the case.

The police said Rohit had a criminal past. “He has around six criminal cases registered against him,” said a police official. — TNS
