23-year-old youth shot in Nayagaon

Mohali, June 7

A 23-year-old safai karamchari working at the PGI was allegedly shot dead by two motorcycle-borne men in the Nayagaon area this evening. Saurabh, alias Mandy, received two bullets of the four that were reportedly fired by the assailants.

The incident took place at Adarsh Nagar Colony where the assailants arrived and the pillion rider fired at Saurabh. He was taken to the PGI where he was declared brought dead. The police suspect it to be a case of old enmity.

The police recovered four shells from the crime scene and suspect that a .32 bore pistol was used by the assailants. One of the bullets hit Saurabh in the chest.

The victim was playing cards at a public place when the motorcycle-borne assailants arrived and asked him to come towards a secluded spot. They went a few metres away and had heated arguments with each other.

An eyewitness told the police that seconds after the arguments, one of the motorcycle riders pulled out a pistol and allegedly fired four bullets from point-blank range at the victim. The Mohali police have registered a case of murder at the Nayagaon police station. The police have identified one of the two accused, but are yet to arrest him. According to the Station House Officer of the Nayagaon police station, his name is Akash and he was known to the victim.


Victim was involved in snatchings, assaults

According to the police, the victim was involved in four or five assault and snatching cases registered in the city and Mohali. The police suspect it could be a case of a gang war or a deal gone bad.

One of the two accused identified

The police have identified one of the two accused, but are yet to arrest him. According to the SHO of the Nayagaon police station, his name is Akash and he was known to the victim.

An eyewitness told the police that one of the motorcycle riders allegedly fired four bullets from point-blank range at the victim. Two bullets reportedly hit the him.
