25 women poets express notions at kavi sammelan

As many as 25 women poets participated in the Trilingual Mahila Kavi Sammelan, an annual event organised by Chandigarh Sahitya Akademi (CSA) to mark International Women’s Day, at UT guest house here today.
The poets presented their choicest verses on various themes of social evils such as subjugation of females and male chauvinism, current issues, peace love and affection. All poets expressed their views in Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu and English.
The women poets included Kana Singh, Amar Jyoti, Sarabjit Sohal, Manjit Indra, Gurdip Gul,Gurminder Sidhu, Parsoon Parsad, Anita Surbhi, Taaran Gujral, Rajwanti Maan, Santosh Dhiman, Yojna Rawat, Shelly Wig, Nikha, Usha Rani, Vijaylaxmi, Pragya Sharda, Urmil Sakhi, Ritu Bhanot, Rajni Pathak, Ishwer Kaur, Rajinder Kaur, Sarab Reena and Promila.
Earlier, Dr Jaspal Singh gave details about akademi activities and introduced the concept of ‘mushaira’.
