3 fraudsters had duped one more jeweller

Three fraudsters, who were arrested by the UT police for duping a jeweller in Mani Majra, have also been booked in another case for duping a jeweller at Ram Darbar by purchasing jewellery worth Rs 16,000 and fooling the owner in the garb of transferring money through Paytm.

The suspects, Manpreet Singh, Kamaljeet Singh and a 19-year-old girl, Anmol, were arrested by a team of the Mani Majra police station for duping a jeweller of Rs 12,000. The police said after purchasing jewellery, they used to show fake messages of Paytm mentioning that the amount had been transferred to the jewellers’ accounts.

Before committing the crime at Mani Majra, they had cheated a jeweller at Ram Darbar also.

Complainant Manoj Madhav Jha alleged that they purchased jewellery worth Rs 16,210 and insisted on making the payment through Paytm. They showed a fake transaction message to Manoj and left his shop. —TNS
