3 get life term for murder of Jio manager

A local court on Friday sentenced three persons to life imprisonment for murdering a senior manager of Reliance Jio two years ago. Vineet Trehan (38) was murdered with an axe near his residence at Mani Majra after a robbery attempt. The three convicts — Manish (29) and Aamir (23), both residents of Mani Majra, and Aakash (22), alias Golu, of Panchkula — will also pay a fine of Rs 5,000 each.

The complainant in the case was Vicky Anand, a security guard, who stated that while he was on duty on July 30, 2016, around 11.25 pm, he saw a car stationed on the right side on the main road in front of the gate of Uppal Society. He saw the driver coming out of the car and then being attacked by three persons.

Anand dialled 100, but by that time, the three assailants had fled on a motorcycle, leaving the victim lying on the road. Vineet was taken to a hospital where he was declared brought dead by doctors. While the FIR was initially registered against unknown persons, the three accused were arrested later by the police.
