The Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Sidhuwal-Patiala, organised its annual parliamentary debating competition, AGAHI-17, on its campus here.
In its 7th edition, AGAHI witnessed 30 teams competing for different prizes during the event.
The core adjudicators were Siddharth Thyagarajan, Krishtjeet Das and Ira Regmi and the deputy core adjudicator was Surabhi Grover. The RGNUL adjudicator pool consisted of Nishtha Shukla, Sonalika Ahooja, Shubhangi Yadav, Aditi Tripathi, Prerna Robin, Saloni Dass, Abhinav Shukla and Dhairya Sharma.
Eight teams broke into quarters namely IIT Roorke, AIL-II, PEC-I, PEC-III, KMC, Hindu-DCAC, SVC-Hansraj and PEC-II. Four teams broke into the semi-finals namely PEC-II, KMC, Hindu-DCAC and SVC-Hansraj Cross.
Thereafter, two teams that emerged as the finalists were Hindu-DCAC and SVC-Hansraj Cross. The final was judged by a panel of top notch adjudicators - Ira Regmi, Surabhi Grover, Rishika, Sitara, Kanishca, Dhruv Ganjoo and Dhruv Gulani.
Two of RGNUL internal adjudicators, Nishtha and Abhinav, broke in and adjudged the quarter finals and Nishtha also adjudged the semi-final rounds.
The best team, winners of AGAHI’17, Hindu College of Delhi University, won the prize money of Rs 21,000, while the runners-up was SVC-Hansraj-JMC Delhi University, which won the prize money of Rs 12,000. The Spirit of AGAHI’17 award went to National Law School, Jodhpur. The Best Speaker prize was shared by Jagrit Chauhan and Akanksha Rao. Kanishca of PEC, Chandigarh, was declared the best adjudicator, who also won the prize money of Rs 7,000.
