4 convent schools in city hold draw for entry-level classes

Four convent schools of the city held draw of lot for admissions to entry-level classes but a good number of seats went to the joint quota of alumni, sibling, children of staff and Christian minority.
At Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, Sector 26, there were 160 seats for LKG. However, 74 seats (46.3 per cent) went to applicants from sibling, alumni, children of staff and Christian minority categories while the draw was conducted for the remaining 86 seats. The school had received as many as 917 admission forms. Three applicants have been put on the waiting list.
“I had sought admission for my daughter Ravreet Kaur only at Sacred Heart and Carmel Convent School, Sector 9. She got lucky in the draw of lot at the former,” said Rajwinder Kaur.
“I had submitted application forms at four schools — St. Anne’s Convent School, Sector 32, St. Kabir Public School, Carmel Convent and Sacred Heart. Though my daughter has got lucky here, I have yet to check up the lists of selected candidates at St. Anne’s and Carmel Convent,” said Balpreet Kaur at Sacred Heart Convent School.
At St. John’s High School, Sector 26, 160 seats were offered for UKG. The draw was held for 113 seats while 47 (29.4 per cent) were allotted under alumni, sibling, Christian minority, children of staff and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) categories. Three applicants are on the waiting list. “We had received around 700 forms,” said Nidhi Saxena, PRO of the school.
At St. Anne’s Convent School, a total of 200 seats were offered for LKG. “A total of 1,960 forms were received. The draw of lot was held for 100 general seats and 30 seats in the sibling category,” said Lizy, admission coordinator of the school. The remaining 70 seats (35 per cent) were filled under alumni, children of staff and Christian minority categories. Ten applicants are on the waiting list.
Carmel Convent School had 110 seats in LKG. The draw was held for 55 seats while 65 seats were allotted under alumni, sibling, and Christian minority quotas. The school had received close to 1,000 forms.
