4 lakh devotees throng Mansa Devi temple on Day 1

Around 4 lakh devotees thronged the Mansa Devi temple on the first day of Navratras here on Sunday.

The Mansa Devi Shrine Board collected Rs 19 lakh in donations from the Mansa Devi temple in Panchkula and Kali Mata temple at Kalka on the first day of Navratras on Sunday.

“There was a good response on the first day of the Navratra festival. While 4 lakh devotees turned up at Mansa Devi temple in Panchkula, around 50,000 people visited Kali Mata temple in Kalka,” said VG Goyal, chief executive officer of the shrine board.

Special arrangements have been made to facilitate the devotees visiting the temple.

Haryana Governor Prof Kaptan Singh Solanki and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar also paid obeisance at the temple on Sunday. — TNS

Self-defence training

The District Legal Services Authority, Panchkula, in coordination with the Haryana Police, Department of Women and Child Development, organised a special legal literacy camp at Mata Mansa Devi Navratra Mela. The theme of this camp was “stop violence against women and children”. Self-defence training was also imparted to women and children with the help of Bikram Thapa along with his team of martial arts experts.

Haryana Governor, CM pay obeisance

Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar also paid obeisance at the temple on the first day of the Navratras.
