Zirakpur, July 2
A 40-year-old man was killed after he was allegedly hit by a truck on Aerocity Road here today.
The deceased has been identified as Balwinder Singh, a resident of Sangrur district.
Randeep Singh, in his complaint to the police, said he, along with his driver Balwinder Singh, was coming towards Dera Bassi on a tractor-trailer loaded with wheat straw. When they reached Aerocity Road, a truck, in a bid to overtake them, allegedly hit their vehicle.
Balwinder got off from the tractor to ask the truck driver to drive carefully, but he sped away, crushing him under the wheels. He was rushed to the Civil Hospital, Dera Bassi, from where he was referred to the GMCH-32, Chandigarh, where doctors declared him brought dead.
The police have registered a case against the truck driver. — OC
