50 women jail inmates attend workshop on mental well-being

Cricketer Suresh Raina and his wife Priyanka Chaudhary Raina’s Gracia Raina Foundation (GRF) today organised a reproductive health and mental well-being workshop for incarcerated women of Model Jail, Chandigarh.

The workshop, a part of the foundation’s #Every Mother programme, was attended by 50 women, led by Priyanka. Dr Rupinder Kaur, gynaecologist; Dr Tanvi Seth, counselling psychologist, Fortis Hospitals, Mohali; Dr OP Mishra, IG, Prisons; Balbir Singh, District and Sessions Judge and Dr Upneet Lalli, Deputy Director, Institute of Correctional Administration, graced the event. Dr Mishra said, “It was an interactive workshop. I am sure this interaction will help the inmates in overcoming stress.”

Priyanka said, “It doesn’t matter where you come from or where you are right now. Good health is a gift and we all must know how to achieve it, regardless of place or circumstance.” — TNS
