Chandigarh, May 19

An entrancing spell of classical instrumental music by acclaimed maestro Subhash Gosh on his newly created 'Nav Swar Ragini' lightened up the 'Horizon series concert organised by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) at Mini Tagore Theatre here on Saturday.

Subhash Ghosh commenced his absorbing 'swar ragini' recital by unfolding the melodic character of raga 'puriya kalyan' through a brief alaap and a slower paced (dheema madhya laya) bandish set to ‘jhaptal’ and little faster one in ‘teen tal’. He also presented two fast paced compositions before concluding with an appealing spell of a composition in raga 'shiv kalyan', immortalised by Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, the guru and mentor of Pt Ghosh.
