Celebrating the 94th birth anniversary of legendry music maestro Mohammad Rafi, the Yaadgar-E-Rafi Society organised its 36th edition of Mohammad Rafi Memorial nite at Tagore Theatre here on Sunday.

The highlight of the nite was the majestic presence of singer Shahid Rafi, son and disciple of Mohammad Rafi, with Firdaus Rafi.

Society president PK Sharma and secretary BD Sharma welcomed the singers. Haryana minister Krishan Bedi was the chief guest on the occasion.

Shahid Rafi entered the theatre in style singing ‘Badi door se aaye hain..’ and paid floral tributes to Mohammad Rafi amidst a round of applause. As many as 30 artistes, including the winners of the Rafi memorial contest 2018 held in August and senior bureaucrats — Ram Niwas, SS Parsad, Ranju Parsad and Roshan Lal, regaled the audience with hit songs of Mohammad Rafi and Lata Mangeshkar.

Brothers Dr Arun Kant and Er. Raman Kant, who specially traveled from Toronto, for this annual event also performed. — OC
