Abhay beats Sagar, Pratham humbles Sarthak on Day 1

Chandigarh, November 4  

Abhay Mohan defeated Haryana’s Sagar Mor 9-4 in the opening round of the boys’ U-18 qualifiers in the CLTA-AITA Super Series Tennis Tournament at the CLTA Complex, Sector 10, here today.

Delhi’s Nishant Dabas blanked local challenger Himanshu Sharma 9-0, while Manveer Singh of the Chandigarh Academy for Rural Tennis (CHART) registered a 9-4 win over Aiswajit Saha. Another player from Delhi, Suraj A Kumar overcame Chandigarh’s Rashbeg Singh 9-7.

Punjab’s Manveer Singh humbled Aiswajit Saha 9-4, while Harmanjot Minhas drubbed Prabh Sharan Atwal 9-1.

Pratham marches ahead

In the boys’ U-16 category, top seed Pratham Parag Bhujbal of Maharashtra beat Sarthak Gandhi of Chandigarh 9-5 in the second round of the qualifiers.  

Third seed Ricky Chaudhary of Delhi overpowered Manav Sree Kumar of Tamil Nadu 9-4, while fourth seed Jitin Kumar Chetry got the better of Nikhil Mittal. Fifth seed Rishi Jalota of Uttar Pradesh dumped Rakshit Dhankar 9-1. 

Sixth seed Divanshu Hooda registered a 9-3 win over Siddhant Bakshi. 

Amarjot moves ahead

In the girls’ U-18 category, Amarjot Kaur Bundhel overcame Adi Singh of Delhi 7-5 1-6 6-0 in the final qualifying round.  

Sandeepti Singh Rao blanked Sachi Preet Arora 6-0 6-0, while Haryana’s Anushka Sharma humbled Delhi’s Tanu Sharma 6-4 6-0. Renee Sharma of Telangana got the better of Chandigarh’s Amreen Sidhu 6-2 6-1. 

Snigdha beats Harnoor

Snigdha Sran of Chandigarh, meanwhile, registered a 6-3 7-5 win over Harnoor Kaur Sidhu in the final qualifying round of the girls’ U-16 category.

Another local challenger Radhika Vasudeva outplayed Haryana’s Anushka Verma 6-1 6-0. 

Sukhmani Singh of Punjab beat Steisha Buddhala of Delhi 7-5 6-3, while Pawandeep Kaur overcame Riya Kaushik in a marathon three setter.

Pawandeep lost the opening set in the tie-break, but came back strongly to win the next two sets to eventually win the match 6-7(12) 6-3 6-4.
