Kharar, September 10
On the occasion of Muharram and Ashura, as many as 25 Afghan students of a college donated blood at the Kharar Civil Hospital here today.
When the students expressed their desire to donate blood, the authorities immediately made the necessary arrangements.
Civil Surgeon Manjeet Singh came to the hospital to inaugurate the specially-organised blood donation camp and applauded the efforts of the students. He said the deed was an inspiration for people.
Imran Poya, an MBA student at Shaheed Udham Singh College of Engineering and Technology (SUSET), Tangori, said donating blood was an act of humanity.
He said: “Humanity is the greatest religion. We appeal to the youth to come forward and do their bit for serving the fellow beings.”
He said they all donated blood for the first time and would now make it a routine practice.
Abdullah, another donor, said he felt good about donating blood and would continue to donate blood in the future. Abdullah is a BBA student at the Tangori college.
