Ajay, Krishan ease into pre-quarters

CHANDIGARH:Second seed Ajay Malik of Haryana and his state-mate and fourth seed Krishan Hooda won their respective second round matches with ease to move into the boys’ singles pre-quarterfinals at the MCC National Junior (U-18) Clay Court Tennis Championship in Chennai on Tuesday.

Second seed Ajay Malik of Haryana and his state-mate and fourth seed Krishan Hooda won their respective second round matches with ease to move into the boys’ singles pre-quarterfinals at the MCC National Junior (U-18) Clay Court Tennis Championship in Chennai on Tuesday.

Top seed Dev V Javia of Gujarat moved into the last-16 after beating Delhi’s Chirag Gahlot 6-2 6-1. Third seed Kabir Hans of Odisha also had easy sail into the pre-quarters.

Akhilendran Indrabalan of Kerala rallied from a set down to beat Karnataka’s Aayush P Bhat 4-6 6-0 6-4 in the second round. 

In the girls singles competition, top seed Salsa Aher of Maharashtra dropped only one game to Paavanii Paathak of Telangana to reach the last 16.

Third seed Vanshika Choudhary of Uttar Pradesh registered a 6-3 6-4 win over Kundana Sri Bandaru of Tamil Nadu. — TNS/PTI
