Chandigarh: Assistant Director of Adult Education Alka Mehta is now the principal of GMSSS-35. She has been relieved of her previous charge. She will also serve as mission coordinator of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan in the city. Ravinder Kaur has been posted as principal of GMSSS-19, while Sanjay Walia has been posted as principal of GMSSS-23. Students hold awareness rally

Chandigarh: An awareness rally on various widespread diseases during the summer season was organised by the NSS volunteers of DAV-15, Chandigarh, in collaboration with the doctors of GMHS-16. The students carried placards and posters with slogans about creating a healthy environment to enhance the knowledge of the residents. TNS

Dental check-up camp 

Zirakpur: A dental check-up camp was organised at Mount Carmel School in Zirakpur. Dr Akhil Gupta from the tooth care and ENT clinic, Panchkula, examined the students. He checked the students for cavities and gum diseases. He explained the students the risk of developing oral health problems. TNS

College Notes

Orientation of freshers at PEC

Chandigarh: The first day of the under-graduate orientation programme of the PEC University of Technology commenced on the campus on Tuesday. The chief guest for the day was Pradipta Banerji, former Director, IITR. Banerji interacted with the students and urged them to follow their passion and develop flexibility in life. It was followed by an address by Manoj K Arora, Director, PEC, who acquainted the students with the institute, its infrastructure and the shift of focus towards creating jobs instead of seeking them. Later in the session, brief presentations were delivered by the Deans of academic affairs, student affairs, alumni affairs and the head of career development and guidance centre and centre of excellence.
