Chandigarh, November 2
India forward Amjyot Singh Gill has made it to the final roster of NBA G League team Oklahoma City Blue.
The 6 ft 8 inch tall cager from Chandigarh has become the first Indian national to get drafted to the final roster directly from the G League Draft.
“It is a dream come true for me and I’m blessed to be in the OKC Blue squad. I request the entire Indian basketball fraternity to keep supporting me,” said an elated Amjyot.
Amjyot was one of the four players added to the 2017 G League Draft by OKC Blue on October 21. Thereafter, the 25-year-old reported to team for a week-long camp, after which he was picked in the final roster.
OKC Blue will start their 2017-18 season on Friday.
“All his hard work and perseverance has paid off. We will continue supporting Amjyot as he aims higher,” said Vishnu Ravi Shankar, Amjyot’s manager.
NBA G League is a minor league and playing in it will give him more opportunities, opening the door for elite leagues in Europe, Australia, South America or China.
