Sleuths of the Mohali Special Task Force (STF) nabbed another Home Guards jawan of the Chandigarh Police along with another person after recovering 60 gm of heroin from their possession. The police also recovered a Verna car (CH 01 AQ 1476) from them.
The accused have been identified as Navin Sood, a resident of Sector 11, Chandigarh, and Ajay Sharma of Sector 17, Chandigarh.
“Ajay Kumar is serving as a Home Guards jawan in the UT police and is posted at the Sector 17 police station,” said Superintendent of Police Rajinder Singh Sohal here on Thursday. His accomplice, Navin Sood, works at a medical store in the Emergency of the PGI. “He also used to bring intoxicant drugs from the medical store and sell these to customers in the area. He is also a drug addict,” said the SP.
Sohal said both accused were arrested from near Dara Studio in Phase 6 here following a tip-off. “They procured heroin from Delhi and sold it in the Mohali and Chandigarh areas,” said Sohal.
A case under Sections 21, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against him at the STF police station in Phase 4 here. “Further investigations are on in the case,” said the SP. The STF had earlier arrested a Chandigarh Police Home Guards jawan, Dharampal, along with his accomplice with 60 gm of heroin three days ago.
