Another Nigerian arrested with heroin

MOHALI:In yet another case of drug recovery, sleuths of Special Task Force, Mohali, have arrested a Nigerian with 270- gram heroin and Rs 1.

Mohali, August 23 

In yet another case of drug recovery, sleuths of Special Task Force, Mohali, have arrested a Nigerian with 270- gram heroin and Rs 1.80 lakh, here on Thursday. 

Rajinder Singh Sohal, the Superintendent of Police (STF), said they have arrested a Nigerian, identified as Joel Smith from near petrol pump, Phase 3 A, at a specially laid naka following a tip-off in this regard. 

SP Sohal added that Smith was currently residing at Tilak Nagar in New Delhi. “He was on his way to Mohali to supply drugs to his customers, here in Mohali and Chandigarh when nabbed”, said SP Sohal. During the preliminary interrogation, Joel Smith confessed that he came in India on the tourist visa in 2014 and never returned to his country. 

A case under Sections 21, 61, 85 of NDPS Act and Section 14 of Foreign Act has been registered against him at STF Police Station at Phase 4, here. — TNS
