Top seed Anuj Pal continued his impressive run as he humbled Devansh Parajuli in straight sets to set up the title clash with Lavam Makhani in the boys’ U-12 category in the Roots-AITA Challenge Series (CS-7) National Ranking Championship at Zirakpur today. Anuj won 6-4 7-6(2).

Makhani, on the other hand, rallied from a set down to upset second seed Anhad Singh Oberoi in the semifinals.

Makhani lost the opening set 6-7(5), but came back strongly to win the next two sets 6-3 7-5 to stay in contention for the title.

In the boys’ U-14 category, third seed Yashasvi Balhara overcame Umang Singh in a see-saw encounter to seal a berth in the final, where he will meet Arnav Bishnoi.

Balhara won the first set 6-4, but Umang clinched the second set 6-2 to stay in the match. Balhara though sealed the decider 6-4 to move into the final.

Top seed Bishnoi was made to sweat by Harwin Singh before he won his semifinal match 6-2 3-6 6-3.

Sidhak stays afloat

Sidhak Kaur continued her good work as the top seed registered a 6-2 6-0 win over Soumya Chatterjee in the girls’ U-12 semifinals.

In the final, Sidhak will face Shrawasti Kundilya, who packed off Inaayat Juneja 6-1 6-3 in the semis.

Meanwhile, in the girls’ U-14 quarterfinals, top seed Vanya Arora humbled Anandita Sharma 6-4 6-1, while Kashvi Singla downed Meher Kaur 7-5 6-2. Shriya Singh edged out Somya Chatterjee 6-3 7-5 and Shrawasti Kundilya drubbed Poonam 6-0 6-1. — TNS
