Chandigarh, July 22

Anuj Bansal scored 5½ points to win the Open U-16 category title on the concluding day of the first Chandigarh Open Children Chess festival at St. Xavier’s Senior Secondary School, Sector 44, on Sunday. 

Pratyaksh Goel won the U-13 category title by scoring 5½ points. Madhavansh Mittal scored 5½ points to claim the U-10 category title.

In the Open U-10 category, Sherali Patnayak of St. Joseph’s Academy was adjudged the best player. In the boys’ U-7 category, Vayum Goel of British School Panchkula was named the best player. In the open U-13 category, Bhuvi Prabhakar of Sri Aurobindo School, Sector 27, won the top honour. In Open U-16 category, Kemee of DAV Public School, Hamirpur, and Mitali Saini of St. Xavier’s School were jointly declared the best players. —TNS
