The divine spell of classical vocal music by Padma Bhushan recipients Pandit Rajan and Sajan Mishra and soulful instrumental music by violinists Dr V Balaji and Aman Raman marked the programme, “Swar Sandhya-An Evening with Banaras Ghrana”. The programme was organised by Sharda Global at Tagore Theatre today.

The vocalists laid bare Raga Bihagda through a vilambat composition “Chali Pyari Pyare Ko Milan’ in ek tal and medium-paced bandish “Baajo Re Dhap” In teen tal, interspersed with a crisp tarana. The duo turned to Raga Nand with a chhota khayal “Aj Hoon Na Aaye Sham” and presented a bhajan, “Sadho Rachna Ram Banai..” in Raga Charukeshi.

Earlier, violinists Dr V Balaji and Anant Raman opened up the concert with a reposeful alap, slow and fast paced compositions in Raga Charukeshi besides a tarana. They entered into jugalbandis, each complementing to the other.

The duo played a Punjabi tappa and a bhajan “Baje Re Muraliya ..” to the perfection.
