A local court on Wednesday sentenced an auto-rickshaw driver to two-year imprisonment for stalking a woman in February 2017.
The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 on the convict who had stalked a government employee in Sector 20. Convict Pawan Kumar Yadav was found guilty under Section 354 D of the IPC.
On February 9, 2017, the police received the information that an eve-teaser has been caught at Sector 20. At the spot, the victim woman told the police that the accused has an auto-rickshaw and regularly harasses and follows her. He came to her bus stop, blocked her way and made obscene comments, said the woman. The woman had earlier filed a complaint in this regard at the Sector 19 police station around eight years ago. However, the father of the convict had asked for forgiveness and she had let go of the matter then.
