Nabha, March 28
Four families of Ageti village continued their protest for the second day in front of the office of the BDPO against the failure of the department in disbursing the funds under the Prime Minister Awas Yojana (PMAY) for the construction of concrete roofs .
While alleging partiality in the distribution of funds, one of the protesters Balbir Singh said he, along with three other persons, had not been given the benefit despite selection while others were given the monetary aid of over Rs 1 lakh each. Gurcharan Singh and Gurmeet Singh alleged that despite repeated representations to the BDPO, funds were not allotted to them.
They said the official was giving them only dates instead of allocating the funds for the construction of roofs. They have decided to hold a protest dharna in the BDPO building complex till funds were allocated to them.
Meanwhile, BDPO Sukhwinder Singh Tiwana while refuting any partiality in the allocation of funds said the pending cases would be cleared in the coming financial year. The local police requested the protesters to sit outside the building complex and come back in the morning. However, the protesters said they would not move out till the matter was resolved. — TNS
