BA (Hons) social sciences cut-off soars

PATIALA: The cut-off for admission to BA (Hons) Social Sciences at Punjabi University, Patiala, has gone up as its first cut-off for the general category went up to 88.2 per cent for session 2017-18. The topper student in the merit list for the admission had 97.8 per cent marks.

The cut-off for admission to BA (Hons) Social Sciences at Punjabi University, Patiala, has gone up as its first cut-off for the general category went up to 88.2 per cent for session 2017-18. The topper student in the merit list for the admission had 97.8 per cent marks.

During 2016-17, the first cut-off for general category was 85.3 per cent. The School of Social Sciences displayed the merit list of students today after counselling on June 15 and June 16.

A total of 465 applications had been registered online on the university website against 44 seats, excluding additional seats of this course, during the current year.

It is pertinent to mention here that the School of Social Sciences, a department of the university, was established from academic year 2012-13. The course is especially designed to teach application part of the theory and includes syllabi of Civil Services (IAS/PCS) and other competitive examinations. Students are well-informed about the latest developments in their specific subjects through seminars, workshops, guest lectures, etc. Profe DK Madaan, Head of the Department, said students were choosing social sciences discipline to prepare for competitive examinations and to do teaching and research in social sciences.
