Chandigarh, December 1
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has told a local court that it would send a no objection certificate (NOC) to Facebook for reactivation of an account of a Sector 49 resident, which was deactivated after she uploaded a clip of a cricket match in which she appeared, on the website.
Complainant Monika Shail told the court that she would not upload any content in future, which would infringe copyrights of the BCCI. She had requested an NOC from the BCCI to reactivate her Facebook account.
Monika had approached the Chandigarh district court to direct Facebook to reactivate her account and attached her business page in infringement of intellectual property rights case involving the BCCI.
Earlier, she received notices from the BCCI and later her Facebook account was deactivated. Her petition also demanded that the BCCI should be directed to give its consent to the Facebook for restoring her account.
Monika had uploaded a video on her Facebook account “Monika Shail” at 1:29 am on December 14, 2017, wherein while watching a live cricket match she had been telecasted on screen. She received an email from Facebook stating that it had removed her account on December 16, 2017. It was also stated that Facebook had received notice from the BCCI stating that content uploaded by her infringed copy right(s) of the board.
