Bid to break open ATM in Zirakpur
Zirakpur, August 25
Unidentified miscreants made an unsuccessful attempt to break open an ATM of Axis bank at Lohgarh village here.
However, the police are clueless about such incident as they have not received any kind of complaint in this regard, said sources.
According to the sources, the accused entered the ATM of the Axis bank branch in Zirakpur and made an unsuccessful attempt to break open the machine with a gas cutter. However the miscreants were only able to damage the machine. They failed to decamp with any cash or valuable from the place. The miscreants damaged the front portion of the ATM and escaped under the cover of darkness.
The incident came to light when nearby residents saw the damaged ATM and raised an alarm. Police officials said they would ask bank officials to provide them with the CCTV footage to get a clue.
“We want to see the footage as the images of the accused must be recorded while entering the ATM and before covering the camera with a tape,” said a police official.
Harman Hans, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Dera Bassi, said no such complaint was lodged in this regard. — OC
