BJP leader booked for sending porn videos to WhatsApp group

The local police on Friday booked the Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha leader, Amit Gupta, for allegedly sending porn videos to a WhatsApp group.

He was removed from the post of the vice-president of the BJP wing on Friday.

Senior vice-president of the Haryana Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee, Ranjita Mehta, had filed the complaint.The police booked Amit Gupta under Section 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 67(A) of the Information Technology Act.

Ranjita Mehta, in her complaint, stated that around 65 porn videos were sent to the WhatsApp group, “Panchkula Manthan”, on the night intervening August 29 and August 30. The group has senior politicians, bureaucrats and mediapersons as members. “I was shocked to see around 65 vulgar videos posted in group. It was learnt that these videos were posted by Amit Gupta, who runs a chemist shop in Sector 11 and currently serves as the vice-president of district BJP Yuva Morcha. He claims to be a nephew of local MLA Gian Chand Gupta,” she said in her complaint.

But the BJP condemned her for claiming that Amit Gupta was a nephew of Panchkula MLA Gian Chand Gupta.

District president of BJP Deepak Sharma said we condemned the action of Amit Gupta and he had submitted his resignation.

The party, in a press statement, stated that when asked, Amit Gupta had told them that he had gone for a wedding where his friend by mistake sent these videos to the WhatsApp group. He had tried to delete the videos, which was impossible if someone in the group watched these, said the BJP press note, claiming he had apologised in the WhatsApp group and had requested the group admin to delete the videos.
