Adamya Singh Rathore, complainant in the BMW murder case and cousin of deceased Akansh Sen, recorded his statement in the court today.
However, accused Harmehtab Singh Rarewala, alias Farid, seemed frightened to even stand near Rathore. As soon as Farid saw Rathore in the court, he stopped in his tracks and had to be pulled by police officers escorting him.
As he reached near his counsel AS Sukhija, Farid asked if he could stand with him instead of near the witness box where Rathore was. The counsel in turn asked the Judge, who said the accused could stand anywhere but it had to be near Rathore. A visibly frightened Farid thus had his eyes looking at the floor for most of the time.
Rathore once again stated that the BMW car ran over Sen thrice. He said Sen, his cousin and co-owner of Boombox Cafe in Sector 9, was hit intentionally by main accused Balraj Singh Randhawa, who drove the BMW car over him, while Farid sitting beside him, instigated him. As per the allegations, an altercation occurred between Shera and Harmehtab due to old enmity, which ultimately resulted in the incident.
Rathore was cross-examined by defence counsel AS Sukhija who questioned him about the presence of his friends, the amount of liquor they consumed that night among other things. When asked about the presence of girls on that night, he said there were three out of which he knew only one. He claimed to have taken just a sip of Vodka after Shera and other friends insisted.
He also added that Balraj and Harmehtab were among those who kept going outside and coming back to the cafe.
The remaining cross-examination will be completed on the next hearing on December 13 along with eyewitness Karanyog Riar who did not appear before the court today citing ill-health.
Harmehtab Singh Rarewala, alias Farid, and Balraj Singh Randhawa are the two accused in the case. Farid is in the custody and has been charged for murder, while Randhawa is absconding and has been declared a proclaimed offender by the court.
