Brar joins as UT DC
Chandigarh: Mandeep Singh Brar (see pic), a Haryana-cadre IAS officer of the 2005 batch, joined as the Deputy Commissioner of Chandigarh on Tuesday. Brar joined after the UT Administration relived former Deputy Commissioner Ajit Balaji Joshi whose three-tenure ended on Monday. The Union Ministry has approved his name for the post recently. Brar said he would seek public cooperation to improve the functioning of the Estate Office. Brar has served in various capacities, including Chief Administrator of the Haryana State Agriculture Marketing Board, and as the Deputy Commissioner of Panchkula, Kurukshetra, Yamunanagar, Karnal and Ambala. Mobile phone snatched
Chandigarh: A miscreant riding a scooter reportedly fled away after snatching a mobile phone from a pedestrian in Sector 22 here on Tuesday evening. Sources said the suspect, who appeared to be in his 20s, snatched the mobile phone from the pedestrian around 8.15 pm. The police reached the spot after getting information about the incident. The police have initiated an investigation at the Sector 17 police station. TNS
