Chandigarh, August 12
In view of upcoming PUTA elections, the participating groups are indulging in rigorous campaigning at Panjab University.
The two groups in the fray are being led by Prof Dr Rajesh Gill and Dr Jayanti Dutta, who are competing for the post of PUTA president.
Today, Rajesh Gill’s team visited residential areas of the PU and urged the members to vote for them. They introduced their candidates to the members and apprised them of their accomplishments in the past two years. “We also sought inputs from teachers. It was a very encouraging experience for us to receive such a positive response. Our work — renovation of teachers’ flats, grant of PhD increments, prevention of regressive measures such as Biometric attendance, online student feedback, arbitrary appointments and mandatory filing of property returns — was appreciated by teachers. We assured our colleagues of a fearless association, which will never compromise on teachers’ dignity and autonomy,” commented Gill.
