The health and activity card released under the Health and Physical Education (HPE) by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in August has left teachers perplexed.
Even after a month, the teachers have not found a way to fill the activity card. The card sought numerous health details of students ranging from vision, ears, teeth occlusion, posture evaluation etc. There are various tests to assess the health and skill components of the students. These tests include BMI, partial curl up, sit and reach, shuttle runs, flamingo balance test etc.
Swaran Singh Kamboj, president of the UT cadre educational employees’ union, said: “The teachers’ union has requested the Education Department to write to the doctors of government hospitals and form teams of doctors so that they go to all government schools and conduct free health check-up and fill correct information.”
The activity card is mandatory for enabling students of Classes X and XII to appear in the board exam. The board had introduced the Health and Physical Education (HPE) for Classes IX to XII from session 2018-19 onwards.
