Reports of a Chandigarh boy getting a high-paying job with Google might not be true with an uncle of the class 12 student refuting the claim.

Harshit Sharma, a student of class 12 (IT stream) of Government Model Senior Secondary School in Sector 33-B, Chandigarh, had claimed to have got an annual job contract of Rs 1.44 crore with the tech giant.

He had also claimed to fly to California next Monday to join Google.

However, according to reports, Google has officially denied having any information about Harshit’s claim.

Harshit had told the media in Chandigarh that he was trained by his uncle Narinder Sharma at Mathana, near Kurukshetra.

Harshit could not be contacted as his mobile phone was switched off.

Meanwhile, Narinder confirmed to The Tribune Harshit had neither got a job letter from Google nor a confirmation.

Harshit’s uncle runs a computer facilitation centre where he assists villagers in filing various forms online.

Narinder said he had given tips to Harshit on computer designing and a few months ago his nephew had secretly “applied online for a job with Google”.

Narinder remained evasive on sharing the whereabouts of Harshit and his parents for their version.

Sources said Harshit’s father was a principal at a private college in Punjab while his mother was a teacher at a school located on Chandigarh’s periphery.

“Situation has become very awkward and embarrassing. It was through media reports that I learned about Harshit landing a job with Google. But we have no idea on the turns of events,” Narinder said.
