Chandigarh girl crowned Miss Punjab

PATIALA: A 17-year-old school girl from Chandigarh has won Miss Punjab-2018 while competing with 300 other contestants. Taniesha Bansal, a Class XII of of Strawberry Fields High School took part in the beauty pageant for the first time and was crowned Miss Punjab.

A 17-year-old school girl from Chandigarh has won Miss Punjab-2018 while competing with 300 other contestants. Taniesha Bansal, a Class XII of of Strawberry Fields High School took part in the beauty pageant for the first time and was crowned Miss Punjab.

Niharika Pahwa from Rajpura remained the first runner-up while Komal Bhardwaj from Amritsar was the second runner-up in the contest.

Taniesha already holds a number of titles in her kitty. She won the title of Miss Star of Chandigarh-2018 and was declared Miss Perfect in Miss India Exotic-2018. She also remained a runner-up in Miss Bharat Punjab 2018.

Taniesha wants to make a career in modelling. “I want to balance both modelling and studies. I plan to pursue computer science in the university after my school,” she said.

Apart from modelling and interest in computer science, Taniesha has been a national lawn-tennis player for the last three years. She writes blogs and participates in activities organised by NGOs, including working with a school for the blind.

Miss Punjab 2018 contest organisers Mubarak Sandhu and Mohit Sharma said the Taniesha bagged the crown out of 300 girls. The grand finale of the event was held at Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Landran, on Tuesday. This was the third edition of the contest. The contest was judged by celebrities Hobby Dhaliwal, Amar Noorie, Harjit Harman and designers, including Roopan Grewal, Sanjeev Kumar and Harkiran Basra.

Organisers said they held auditions in six cities, including Patiala, Bathinda, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Jalandhar and Mohali. “The semifinal round of shortlisted contestants was held in Patiala. We received more than 600 entries out of which 300 girls participated in the contest. Later, 115 girls were shortlisted for the semifinal event and 30 for the grand finale,” said Mubarak Sandhu. “Girls will get a chance to take part in Miss India pageant and offers for portfolio and brand shoots and movies,” he added.
