Chandigarh-Nanded flight takes off today

The much-awaited direct flight between Chandigarh and Sikh pilgrimage Sachkhand Hazoor Sahib in Nanded will start tomorrow.
For the maiden flight of Air India, which will take off at 9.10 am tomorrow from the Chandigarh international airport, all tickets in the 162-seater aircraft have been sold.
Confirming the development, MR Jindal, Air India airport manager, said, “We are getting an encouraging response for the flight. Most of the tickets for Wednesday’s flight have also been sold.”
Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra, Member of Parliament from Anandpur Sahib, who is also going to Hazoor Sahib on the flight with senior Akali leaders, including Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, Dr Daljit Singh Cheema and Jathedar Tota Singh, said with the start of the flight, a long-pending demand of Punjab people had been met. “We are thankful to Union Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu for this,” said Chandumajra.
The flight will operate twice a week, on Tuesday and Wednesday. The flight will take off at 9.10 am from Chandigarh and reach its destination at 11.30 am. From Nanded, it will depart at 12.05 pm and arrive here at 2.20 pm.
Tomorrow, a religious ceremony, including ‘kirtan’ and ‘ardas’, will be held at the airport before the take-off.
