After technical adviser to the state government raised objection over the substandard material being used in the cattle shed construction at Sukhdarshanpur village near Raipur Rani the Municipal Corporation (MC) has now awarded the work to a charitable trust.
The cow shelter is coming up on 21 acre, which was donated by villagers to the MC. There is a plan to accommodate around 1,000 stray cattle heads at the gaushala.
Confirming the development Rajesh Jogpal, Municipal Commissioner-cum Administrator, said, “Madhav Gaushala Charitable Trust, , an NGO, has been handed over the task of constructing the cattle shed.” Two sheds had been constructed by the contractor and the remaining two would be constructed by the charitable trust, he added.
“A large numbers of stray cattle enter from Dhakoli, Baltana in Zirakpur and Chandigarh. The Panchkula MC has already posted its own guards to stop the entry of cattle, which create traffic hazards,” said Jogpal.
