“The flight operated by Indigo Airlines will remain suspended till February 15, 2020,” said sources.

Frequent disruptions in flight operations during winters is said to be the reason behind the decision of temporarily suspension of the Indigo flight. The airlines had discontinued the international flight for sometime in September 2018 too.

As per the sources, “Frequent delays and diversion of flight to Delhi during foggy days cause losses to the airlines due to which the decision of temporarily suspension of the flight has been taken.”

After suspension of the Chandigarh-Dubai flight, the airport will have only one international connection, Chandigarh-Sharjah-Chandigarh flight.

It is to be noted that the the Airport Authority of India authorities in Mohali had recently claimed that the local airport had now come under Category II with advanced equipment here due to which chances of cancellation of flights during coming foggy days would be bleak.

Earlier, the airport witnessed suspension of another international Chandigarh-Bangkok-Chandigarh flight by Air India Express last year following poor occupancy.
