The Chandigarh Administration’s top brass is “unhappy” with the performance of Hotel Mountview, run by the Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Development Corporation Limited.

Disappointed by the performance of the hotel in 2015, the UT Home Secretary-cum-Chairman of CITCO has asked its Managing Director, through a communiqué dated December 28, 2015, to come up with a strategic plan to end the financial loss in 2015-16.

The communiqué clearly stated that the initiatives taken in the direction of preventing any loss in the current year for Hotel Mountview have not shown the ‘desired results’ so far.

At the review meeting, held under the Adviser to the UT Administrator, on December 21, 2015, the issue was discussed following which similar directions were issued to the authorities concerned.

After the review meeting, the CITCO MD had issued another communiqué to the General Manager of the hotel, in which it was stated, “while reviewing the performance of your unit, it has been observed that the actual sales are not in commensuration with the targets as agreed upon”.

The communiqué further stated that “it seems that there is no collective effort to achieve the targets.”

Against the set target budget sale (April-November) of Rs 15.10 crore, the actual sale is nearly Rs 13.68 crore, a shortfall of around Rs 1.41 crore in achieving the target.

It is to be noted that the hotel has been running losses for the last four years. The CITCO authorities had appointed a professional General Manager last year with the objective of reining in losses.
