Chandigarh, June 21

Aided by Sachin Dhull’s five-wicket haul, Kaithal bundled out hosts Chandigarh on 134 runs in the first innings on the opening day of their Haryana Inter-District U-19 Cricket Championship match here on Thursday.  At the draw of stumps, Kaithal were batting on 134/4 with Ajay Dhull not out on 61 and Parth Vats unbeaten on 11. Skipper Treyaksh Bali picked three of the four Kaithal wickets that fall in the Kaithal innings.

Earlier, the hosts had a disastrous start to their innings. While in form Monarch Goel was dismissed on naught, skipper Bali hit three boundaries before falling prey to Ravinder Sharma on 13. Shariq Khan was cleaned up by Yashdeep Sandhu on four.

Aman (30), Vishvajit Dhanda (35) and Manik (30) made some useful contributions before Sachin Dhull polished off the tail to restrict the hosts to a below par 134.

Sachin returned with the figures of 5/41. Yashdeep Sandhu and skipper Ravinder Sharma picked two wickets each.

Kaithal, in reply, lost opener Vaibhav Seth on four, but Ajay Dhull and wicketkeeper batsman Ajay Bidhan batted sensibly and raised a 50-run stand for the second wicket before Bali claimed his first wicket of the day. Bidhan was castled after scoring a 46-ball 31.

Ashok Dhull became Bali’s second victim; caught by substitute Mohit Verma on 20.

Vishal Saini did not last long either. He was caught by Dhanda off Bali on six as the visitors slumped to 102/4 in 25 overs.
