City boys win national softball championship

Chandigarh, May 18

The city boys have won a gold medal in the just concluded 15th Senior National Soft Tennis Championship for Men and Women at Cambridge International School in Jalandhar.

Madhya Pradesh bagged the silver, while the bronze medal was shared by Punjab and Gujarat. 

The women’s title went to Uttar Pradesh. Madhya Pradesh had to content with silver, while Chandigarh and Punjab shared the bronze medal.

Twenty four states participated in the five-day championship, which was organised by the Punjab Soft Tennis Association under the aegis of Amateur Soft Tennis Federation of India. 

Rohit Dhiman of Chandigarh, meanwhile, won the men’s singles gold after beating Delhi’s Jitender in the final. 

Dhiman along with Sachit also pocketed a doubles gold after registering a convincing win over Chandigarh pair of Jituv and Karamjit.

In the women’s singles final, city girl Nikita Bishnoi got the better of her Madhya Pradesh opponent to clinch the gold medal.
