City cop Gurinder shoots gold

Chandigarh: Gurinder Singh of Chandigarh Police has won a gold medal in the ongoing 27th All India GV Malvankar Shooting Championship in Mumbai. Gurinder dominated the 50m small bore event to claim the title. The 13-day event will concluded on Tuesday. Earlier, during the Chandigarh State Rifle Shooting Championship Gurinder had won two gold medals in 50m small bore. Chandigarh DGP Tajender Singh Luthra has congratulated the marksman for his achievement. — TNS

Badminton meet from today

Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Badminton Association will organise the Yonex Sunrise North Zone Inter State Badminton Championship at the Panjab University indoor badminton hall from Tuesday. Over 200 shuttlers from seven states --- Punjab, Delhi, Rajasthan, J&K, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Chandigarh --- will be participate in the event, the sports body said here on Monday. The participants will compete in seniors and juniors (U-19) categories, both in team and individual events, the association added. — TNS
