City-Pune direct flight takes off

The inaugural Jet Airways direct flight to Pune started operations as summer schedule came into force at the Chandigarh International Airport on Monday. The schedule will remain in force till October 27.
Chandigarh International Airports Limited (CHIAL) PRO Deepesh Joshi said: “There were no major delays and flights operated on schedule.”
The Jet Airways Pune-Chandigarh-Pune flight arrived at the airport at 1.50 pm with 137 passengers on board, while 128 passengers took the return flight from Chandigarh at 2.40 pm.
The Boeing 737 aircraft for the flight (with a capacity of 12 primer and 156 economy seats) was given a traditional water gun salute. Airport officials handed over the first boarding pass to Jiwan Kumar, a passenger.
CEO, CHIAL Suneel Dutt said: “The flight will help passengers to take connecting flights to domestic destinations like Hyderabad, Patna, Chennai, Bengaluru and also international destinations like the US via Abu Dhabi.”
A total of 32 flights are operating in the summer schedule, with the maximum number of flights to Delhi. GoAir has postponed the operations of its two new flights. The flight, (G8 942/943) Hyderabad-Chandigarh-Hyderbad, would operate from April 30, while the flight connecting Ahmedabad, Chandigarh and Srinagar, (G8 911/822/823) will operate from April 16. — TNS
