Classical strings of violin

Chandigarh, October 7

The Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi presented a programme of classical violin recital by acclaimed Bhopal-based virtuoso Praveen Sheolikar and his accomplished disciple and daughter Chaitrali at Mini Tagore Theatre here today. World-trotting maestro Pt Ramdas Palsule accompanied them on tabla.

Praveen Sheolikar commenced his violin recital with an exposition of Raga Bageshri through a reposeful alap. Supported ably by Chaitrali Sheolikar, he laid bare the melody of Raga Hamir in the two compositions presented in teen tal and ek tal. — TNS

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
