To commemorate the diamond jubilee of the Brigade of The Guards Regimental Centre, a coffee table book recording varied facets of post-independent India’s first “All-India All Class” infantry regiment has been released.

Titled ‘Brigade of The Guards — Pahla Hamesha Pahla’, the 200-page book has chronicled the Brigade’s entire 68-year-old extraordinary and fascinating journey and detailing experiences through photographs and supporting text.

The Brigade of the Guards was raised in 1949 by Field Marshal KM Cariappa, the then Commander-in-Chief of Indian Army, and unlike other infantry regiments, draws its manpower from all parts of the country. It consists of 22 Battalions, all of which are fully mechanised.

The book was released by Lt-Gen Surinder Singh, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Command, and Colonel of the Brigade of The Guards in Chandimandir. Senior serving and retired Guards officers, including Lt-Gen HRS Mann and Lt-Gen OP Nandrajog were present on the occasion.
