Chandigarh, October 7
A first-of-its-kind medical store inventory management software in the armed forces, Dhanvantari, was commissioned at the Command Hospital, Chandimandir. The system was inaugurated by the Director-General, Medical Services (Army), Lt Gen Bipin Puri, today.
The aim of this system is to streamline the management of medical store inventory, aid in accounting drugs and consumables in wards and dispensary, ensure benchmarking of prices of drugs and consumables and provide real-time information on stock availability, items nearing expiry and held in disposal of drugs.
Conceptualised by Maj Gen Mukti Sharma, head of the medical branch at the Headquarters, Western Command, the final shape to it was given by Maj Gen Rashmi Datta, the Hospital Commandant.
Lt Gen Puri, a world renowned paediatric surgeon, who is tipped to take over as the Director-General, Armed Forces Medical Services, addressed medical officers at the hospital. He exhorted them to strive for professional excellence and uphold the highest traditions of the Armed Forces Medical Services. — TNS
