A new concept of village-cluster planning was contemplated as crucial for maintaining a balanced growth in the two-day training programme, organised for officers and officials of the Department of Town and Country Planning, Punjab, at the Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration (MGSIPA) in Sector 26, Chandigarh, today.

Participants included technical and non-technical employees of the department from across the state.

The programme witnessed deliberation on important issues like role of town planning in urban development, need to undertake country planning, information of new policies, solutions to problems being faced in planning and provisions of various laws, including Real Estate (Development and Regulation) Act, 2016 (RERA), Punjab Apartment and Property Regulation Act, 1995 (PAPRA), and Punjab Regional and Town Planning and Development Act, 1995.

Prominent among those who spoke and gave presentations during the training programme were Vini Mahajan (IAS), Additional Chief Secretary, Housing and Urban Development; Ravi Bhagat (IAS), PUDA Chief Administrator-cum-Director, Town and Country Planning Department; Harnek Singh, Chief Town Planner; Gurpreet Singh, Chief Town Planner, and Pankaj Bawa, Senior Town Planner.

The Punjab Shehri Awas Yojna (PSAY), Land Pooling Scheme, Affordable Housing Policy, Marriage Palace Policy, Compounding Policy and Iconic Building Policy  among others were discussed during the interactive session held on the second day of the training programme.
