Contempt notice to MD of Punjab Infotech
Mohali, May 7
A local court today issued a contempt notice to Punjab Information and Communication Technology Corporation Limited’s MD Rajat Aggarwal for failing to comply with its order of December 30, 2017.
Mohali resident Sukhbir Singh Shergill had moved an application in this regard, alleging “willful breach/ disobedience” of the court order to deposit an amount of Rs 4.12 crore. The next hearing has been slated for May 28. Sources said a case was registered against Raj Kumar Sangwan, an official of Punjab Infotech under relevant sections of the IPC on January 11, 2017.
It was alleged that the accused with some officials had tampered with records and fraudulently imposed a penalty of Rs 4.12 crore on industrial plot, jointly owned by Shergill and his wife.
The sources said later five officials of the department had recorded their statements before the court that the penalty was wrongly imposed following which Shergill requested the court to make the amount as case property and got it deposited in the court. The court had issued orders to the police in this regard. Despite that the amount was never deposited in the court. — TNS
