Suspicion: Husband killed woman before ending his life

Chandigarh, July 8

The bodies of a couple were found under mysterious circumstances at a house at Mauli Complex in Mauli Jagran here this evening.

The victims have been identified as 29-year-old Anil Kumar and his wife Pooja (28).

Sources said while Anil’s body was found hanging, Pooja’s body was found lying on the floor.

Sources said it was suspected that Anil killed his wife and then committed suicide. However, cops said they could comment only after investigating the matter.

The couple has been living separately owing to some dispute. Anil was staying at Mouli Complex while his wife was staying with her aunt in Sector 28.

Pooja, who works as a contractual employee at the Government Hospital in Sector 6, Panchkula, had left home on Sunday. However, she did not return. Her aunt tried calling her, but she did not answer the calls.

The police said Pooja’s aunt came to Anil’s house in the evening today to look for her and found the front door bolted from inside.

She informed the neighbours and the police were called up. They broke open the door and found the bodies.

Sources said Anil was an auto driver.

The couple is survived by two children, who stay with their grandfather in Kaithal, Haryana.

The bodies have been shifted to a government hospital. An investigation into the matter has been initiated at the Mauli Jagran police station.
